Kewasco Mandate



Kericho Water & Sanitation Company Limited (KEWASCO) is a Private Limited Company established under the Company's Act 2015, Laws of Kenya and it is wholly owned by the County Government of Kericho.On November 2, 2018, KEWASCO was merged with the former Tililbei Water and Sanitation Company Limited (TILWASCO), a rural-based scheme managing nine areas: Kapkatet/Litein, Sosiot, Kipkelion, Chesinende, Londiani, Fort Ternan, Kipsitet, Bargeiywet, and Sigowet. Prior to the merger, KEWASCO was responsible for providing water and sanitation services in the urban and peri-urban areas of Kericho town. The core mandate of merged KEWASCO is to provide Water and Sanitation Services to the whole of Kericho County. KEWASCO’s joint mandated area of coverage is over 2,454 km2 while the area currently supplied with water is estimated to be 291 km2. It has been contracted by Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency (LVSWWDA) to provide Water and Sanitation Services within the County Government of Kericho and its environs. The Company operates under the Direction and Guidance of Eight (8) Board of Directors who are drawn from a wide spectrum of the Shareholder (County Government of Kericho) and Stakeholders. This is the Policy Making Organ of the Company which operates on Committee basis. The Management is headed by the Managing Director who reports to the Board of Directors.

MANDATE

KEWASCO is responsible for the efficient and economical provision of water and sanitation services within its jurisdiction in Kericho County, operating under a license granted by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB).

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
  1. To reduce the non-revenue water from 50% in 2018 to 30% by 2023
  2. To increase water production from 16,000 m3 per day to 32,000 m3 per day by 2022
  3. To expand sanitation coverage from 40% to 55% by 2022
  4. To increase water and Sanitation Coverage in low income areas annually by 10%
